According to the bookies, Josef Newgarden is the favourite to claim the Astor Challenge Cup in 2023 and record his third IndyCar championship.
He is closely followed in the betting order by reigning champion Will Power, whose consistency and discipline allowed him to take the IndyCar title in 2023 despite winning just one race all season.
Three young talents round off the top five with Pato O’Ward succeeded by Colton Herta and Alex Palou, while Team Penske driver Scott McLaughlin is also priced up at +800 ahead of this weekend’s Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
Six-time IndyCar champion Scott Dixon is only regarded as the seventh most likely driver to claim the championship in 2023, despite finishing third in the standings in 2022.
