PPD Takes a Shot at Nigma: Praises SumaiL’s Performance at Berlin Major 2023

The Berlin Major 2023 is currently ongoing, giving fans some exciting and high-level Dota 2 games in the new patch 7.33, and one of the recent highlights from the event is Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan’s performance as a stand-in for Team Aster. Despite being a Chinese team, the team is currently playing with a non-Chinese-speaking player in SumaiL. However, this has not hindered the team’s performance, having made it to the playoffs and even won its first lower-bracket game against Team Spirit. SumaiL has been the star player for the team, with standout performances in multiple games. After the game, PPD, who was on the panel, made a few comments which could be seemingly targeted toward Nigma.

PPD does not want to see SumaiL back in Division II

In Game 1 of Team Spirit vs Team Aster, SumaiL and the rest of his team put on a dominating performance, with a total score of 42-11 and not giving Team Spirit any leeway in the entire game. SumaiL had a standout performance in the game, with a total score of 17-0 by the time the game ended. Peter “ppd” Dager, one of the panelists, took a jab at Nigma, the captain of Nigma Galaxy while praising the stand-in midlaner SumaiL’s performance. “I think it would be a shame for SumaiL to go play in Division II DPC after he’s going 17-0 at the Major on a regular basis. Hopefully, he gets a couple of offers (from other teams) after the major,” PPD said.

PPD then continues to share his thoughts on what players need to be successful at the international level. “You know it’s not enough to be good at the game to succeed at this international stage. You have to politic and find the right teammates and jel. This is the best thing that could happen for SumaiL’s career, for sure,” he added.

PPD seems to be comparing SumaiL’s outstanding performance at the Berlin Major to his previous disappointing performances with Nigma Galaxy, where the team has not managed to qualify for any larger tournaments and has been relegated to Division II after the end of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Western Europe (WEU) 2023 Tour 2: Division I. The team played recently at Dreamleague Season 19, however, that was with a last-minute invitation due to PSG.LGD was unable to secure visas for the tournament.

SumaiL’s stand-in performances for Team Aster at the Berlin Major 2023 have been a delight to watch for fans, showcasing his exceptional skills. Despite the communication issues and language barriers, SumaiL has managed to fit seamlessly into the team’s dynamic and perform very well. PPD’s comments have sparked a conversation about SumaiL’s future in Dota 2, and it remains to be seen what the outcome will be
