One such error occur is where the downloader pauses on its own as you’re trying to update the game. If you run into this error, here is how to fix Valorant update keeps pausing.

How to fix Valorant update keeps pausing

In most cases, the Valorant update keeps pausing due to unstable internet connection and widely fluctuating speeds. At other times, it may also occur due to lack of storage space on your system or because other programs are taking up too much of your RAM. So here is what you need to do to fix the error that leads to Valorant update pausing.

Reset network settings

One of the simplest ways to fix the error is to restart the network connection to your PC. Go to the ‘Network & Internet’ tab under settings, go to Advanced Network Settings and hit reset now.

Close Other Apps

If you have any background programs like Spotify, Steam or a browser open, make sure you close them while you queue the Valorant update for download. If your PC does not have a lot of RAM, other apps could be using it up, causing the Valorant update to keep pausing.

Check Drive Space

Make sure you have enough space on the disk drive where you have Valorant installed. A lack of adequate space on the drive can also cause Valorant to keep pausing the update. Move large files like videos to other drives. Although, be cautious if you’re moving any other game’s installation files as that may cause errors when launching them.

Restart The Download

If the download is stuck for any other reason, close the Riot Client and restart the download from scratch.

Update Graphics Drivers

The Valorant update may be stuck due to some driver issues. Make sure your operating system and graphics drivers are updated to their latest version.

  • Step 1: Navigate to your graphic drivers by opening the device manager.

  • Step 2: Open the display adapters dropdown and click ‘update driver’ to check for the latest version.

  • Step 3: Select the ‘search automatically’ option and if necessary download the update and install it.

Players can also download the latest driver update directly from the AMD, Nvidia or Intel website depending on your graphic card manufacturer. Note that once the driver update is done, restart your PC once before trying to update the game again.
