Dplus KIA Wins VCL 2023 Korea Split 2 to Qualify for VCT Ascension Pacific
The first regional Valorant league from Asia-Pacific has concluded with Dplus KIA walking away as the champion of the Valorant Champions League (VCL) 2023 Korea Split 2. The team had to face SLT in the best-of-five grand finals which was a repeat of the VCL 2023 Korea Split 1, but this time SLT was able to avoid a whitewash by securing one map before facing a 3-1 defeat.
Dplus KIA ensured that it was the most dominant team from Korea by going 6-1 during the regular season, followed by an undefeated run through the playoffs, guaranteeing a spot for itself in the upcoming Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2023 Ascension Pacific.

It has been a tough and tiring road for the Korean champion, Dplus KIA, who started its journey earlier this year in January with VCL 2023 Korea Split 1, where it was among the six directly invited teams.
The team’s performance in the regular season was quite good as it won five matches and lost just two, finishing second on the leaderboard and qualifying for the playoffs.
Rio Company, later signed by SLT, quickly became its arch-rival as Rio defeated Dplus KIA for the second time in the tournament and sent the team packing down to the lower bracket.
However, this was not enough to break Dplus KIA and it mounted a thundering comeback to reach the grand finals where it faced Rio Company for the third time and defeated them with a clean 3-0 scoreline.
VCL 2023 Korea Split 1: Dplus KIA Champions
Dplus KIA walked into the VCL 2023 Korea Split 2 as the highest-seeded team and justified its position by leading the points table at the end of the regular season. Despite this achievement, the only match it lost was against SLT, which was a personal blow for the side.
However, the team kept its composure and unlike last time avoided a lower-bracket scare. Dplus KIA reached the grand finals unscathed to face SLT one last time and dealt a clean 3-1 defeat to win the tournament and qualify for the VCT 2023 Ascension Pacific.
Dplus KIA will now be seen representing Korea at the international tournament which is the final step to qualify for the VCT 2024/2025 Pacific League. It will be Dplus KIA’s toughest challenge yet, as top teams from every region deliver their absolute best to grab the one available spot and make it into the international circuit.
