BetBoom Fines Save- $200 for Being Late to Breakfast at the Bali Major 2023
As BetBoom Team continues its form from the DreamLeague Season 20, it is targeting a finish in the upper half of Group B in the Bali Major 2023. Even with the recent momentum, the organization appears to continue to have tight rules, as captain Vitalie “Save-” Melnic was recently fined for making a minor error. Due to being late for breakfast on the first day of the Bali Major group stage by just one minute, Save- was penalized $200 USD. A BetBoom Team support staff member mentioned that if the team qualified for the upper bracket playoffs of the Major, all fines would be waived.
BetBoom imposed a $200 penalty on Save- for delayed arrival at breakfast
Save- brought to light this peculiar fine during BetBoom Team’s Bali Major – vlog #2. “One minute late is a $200 fine. I was one minute late for breakfast, and that was because I was stopped by some dude in the elevator. I go up to breakfast and tell me about a $200 fine,” he said in the vlog.
A rather spirited discussion ensued between Save and other BetBoom members, with the latter offering to waive the fine should the team begin the tournament with a 2-0 victory. In response, Save- said the fine would also be cut in half if they drew.
During the discussion, another offer was made in jest to transfer the fine, if they won 2-0, to BetBoom’s carry player Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko, sitting next to them. Save- then suggested that it be moved to the person who ruins the series the most, and the others in the room poked fun at Pure by stating his name.
The team, later, began the Bali Major with a 1-1 draw against Azure Ray.
Overall, BetBoom’s players did not appear to have any particular objections to these fines, as the players have already implemented similar stringent regulations in the past.
In late 2020, most of these players represented Virtus.pro and used to fine themselves for not fulfilling the requirement of playing six pubs per day during their bootcamp. Additionally, every player was required to play at least one pub prior to participating in a scrim or an official game.
In terms of in-game performance, BetBoom has certainly stepped it up but a slight concern arose on the fourth day of the group stage at the Bali Major when the team suffered defeats in both of its series. As the last series of the group round is also against Gaimin Gladiators, this has created some difficulties in obtaining an upper bracket playoff position.
BetBoom has shown symptoms of wilting under pressure in the past, so it will be intriguing to watch if the team can break free and maintain the momentum this time.
