Grubby’s Impressive Rise Through the Ranks in Dota 2

Climbing through the ranks of Dota 2 is a formidable challenge that demands an unparalleled grasp of the game’s mechanics, an extensive understanding of all the 124 characters (heroes) and the 200 in-game items. Pro players from other esports titles often try their hand at Dota 2 but their success in ranked is not always guaranteed. However, Manuel “Grubby” Schenkhuizen, a former Warcraft III professional player and renowned legend in the gaming world, has defied the odds by achieving remarkable success in Dota 2, ascending from the humble Herald IV rank to the prestigious Divine 4 in just a year. Notably, Grubby is two stars away from the highest medal in Dota 2.

Who is Grubby?

Grubby is a revered figure in the Warcraft III community and is considered one of the most successful WC3 players of all time. He has garnered numerous accolades as an Orc player, including over 38 LAN tournament victories, six of which were World Championships. He recently shared his latest Dota 2 milestone with the world. He proudly announced his achievement of reaching the esteemed Divine 4 rank in Dota 2 via a post on Twitter.

Grubby began his Dota 2 journey on 28th September 2022. He calibrated at 680 Matchmaking Rating (MMR) and found himself initially placed in the Herald IV tier. What followed was an astounding ascent through the Dota 2 ranks. He was already close to Ancient in 169 days which was a testament to his remarkable adaptability and quick grasp of the game’s intricate mechanics. Currently, he boasts an impressive 5220 MMR.

Grubby’s Dota 2 journey

Grubby’s ascend to Divine rank from Herald has left the gaming community astounded and inspired. Earlier this year in July, Grubby reached Divine with 4630 MMR in just 301 days.

A critical factor contributing to Grubby’s swift progression was his access to top-tier coaching lessons from distinguished Dota 2 figures. This included two-time The International (TI) champion Sébastien ‘Ceb’ Debs and seasoned analyst Brian ‘BSJ’ Canavan.

Grubby’s remarkable ascent from Herald IV to Divine 4 stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication and remarkable adaptability as a gamer.
