AEW Fight Forever Roster could have 10 wrestlers from WWE 2K22

With news slowly trickling out, the AEW Fight Forever Roster continues to take shape as we learn about each new addition that could make the final game.

We’ve got details on all the confirmed wrestlers on the AEW Fight Forever Roster and which WWE 2K22 superstars might end up in both games.

AEW Fight Forever Roster: All confirmed wrestlers (so far)

AEW Fight Forever was originally announced as an untitled console game in November 2020, and original preview footage teased the first few stars including Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Hikaru Shida, and The Young Bucks.

Since then, we’ve gotten a few glimpses with early footage that showcased models and brief bits of gameplay from Darby Allin and Jungle Boy.

Finally, Thunder Rosa confirmed in an interview that she will be in the game, and we learned at the announcement of the Owen Hart Memorial Tournament that they’d also secured licensing rights to put Owen in the game.

That gives us this current confirmed AEW Fight Forever Roster of wrestlers:

  • Chris Jericho
  • Kenny Omega
  • Hikaru Shida
  • Matt Jackson (The Young Bucks)
  • Nick Jackson (The Young Bucks)
  • Darby Allin
  • Jungle Boy
  • Thunder Rosa
  • Owen Hart

This is likely just scratching the surface, as dozens of major AEW names that have been there for quite some time have yet to be shown or confirmed.

The biggest indicator of inclusion is likely to be whether someone is signed to AEW under an active contract as opposed to just appearing with the company, as this detail is something Aubrey Edwards confirmed as to why some characters didn’t make it into AEW Elite GM.

We’ve got a new gameplay reveal that will also include two new wrestlers on the way, and hopefully that will give us a better idea of what to expect next.

WWE 2K22 roster members likely to be in AEW Fight Forever

Wrestling is more in flux today than it has been in years, and that’s been hit with spectacular timing when it comes to the launch of WWE 2K22.

While it was originally scheduled to hit in October 2021, delays ended up putting WWE 2K22 on path for a release date of March 8, 2022.

Due to the length of that development process, there were dozens of superstars who departed the company and were no longer under contract when the game was released.

As of now, there are 10 different superstars on the WWE 2K22 roster who could potentially be in AEW Fight Forever:

  • Bret “The Hitman” Hart
  • Jake “The Snake” Roberts
  • Jeff Hardy
  • Isaiah “Swerve” Scott / Swerve Strickland
  • Keith Lee
  • Kyle O’Reilly
  • Murphy / Buddy Matthews
  • Samoa Joe
  • Toni Storm
  • William Regal

The majority of these are very likely, but the dark horse is Bret “The Hitman” Hart, as he may still be in a Legends contract with WWE.

However, the combination of Owen Hart being honored by AEW and constant nods from talents like FTR and CM Punk could sway Bret Hart to formally sign on with AEW in a way that allows him to be in the game.

In addition to those talents who were in WWE 2K22, the following superstars from WWE 2K20 are now core members of the AEW roster and likely to make AEW Fight Forever:

  • Adam Cole
  • Aleister Black / Malakai Black
  • Andrade / Andrade El Idolo
  • Big Show / “No More BS” Paul Wight
  • Bobby Fish
  • Christian / Christian Cage
  • Daniel Bryan / Bryan Danielson
  • Dash Wilder / Cash Wheeler
  • Luke Harper / Brodie Lee
  • Matt Hardy
  • Mark Henry
  • Ruby Riott / Ruby Soho
  • Scott Dawson / Dax Harwood

In many ways this is just the nature of how the business changes today, as AEW had barely started airing on TV when WWE 2K20 was released, but continued mass firings by WWE have left massive talent available to AEW.

When the dust finally settles, we may see a major presence in AEW Fight Forever that players are familiar with using in past wrestling games.
