DRX Sweeps Global Esports in Epic VCT Pacific League Showdown

Global Esports (GE) took on DRX in its second match of the VCT 2023 Pacific League which turned out to be an interesting watch as both teams gave it their absolute best.

Despite being one of the best teams in the league, DRX faced tough resistance from a hungry Global Esports who continue to search for its first victory in the international Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) circuit.

DRX managed to clean sweep GE but it was not an easy task, managing to avoid an overtime drag on its map pick Haven, while going through four sets of extra rounds on Split, before closing out the series.

Once again the Indian duo of Ganesh “SkRossi” Gangadhar and Abhirup “Lightningfast” Choudhury were missing from the action in South Korea due to a delay in receiving their respective passports.

The first game between the two teams took place on Haven, DRX’s map pick where it faced a tough fight from Global Esports. Initially playing defense, DRX was able to gain a slight advantage which helped the team wrap it up in the second half despite GE going toe-to-toe against the Korean squad.

Jung “Foxy9” Jae-sung was the standout player for DRX with an insane ACS (Average Combat Score) of 360 on the back of 30 kills, 15 deaths, and 2 assists. The 18-year-old had a really fantastic outing, hard carrying his team across the finish line and providing them with an early series lead.

The second game took place on Split, GE’s map pick, where GE secured an early lead, but DRX with a late wake-up call was able to tie the score at the halftime mark.

In the second half, both teams consistently exchanged rounds taking the game into four overtime rounds before the Korean organization was able to seal the game and with it the series.

Kim “MaKo” Myeong-gwan was the difference maker for DRX with an ACS of 292 which was backed by 31 kills, 21 deaths, and 8 assists. However, it was Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha from Global Esports who stood out as the star player with some mind-blowing plays scattered across the 32 rounds.

Unlike its previous two appearances, Global Esports was unable to claim even a single map win over DRX, which is considered to be the strongest partnered Valorant team from the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

This means that Global Esports continues to hunt for its first victory on the international stage, having lost all three matches so far. However, the team’s incredible performance today might have instilled enough confidence in the players to come out all guns blazing against ZETA DIVISION on 9^th April from 14:30 IST onwards.
