Entity’s Possible Demotion: How This Could Affect Their Chances for The International 2023

After having commendable performances at Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Western Europe (WEU) 2023 Tour 1: Division I, and the Lima Major, Entity has been facing difficulties performing well in the second DPC season. The team managed to secure a decent amount of DPC points (240) by placing fourth in the first DPC Tour and fifth at the Lima Major. Entity’s recent loss to OG means that it is tied for a last-place finish in the DPC WEU Tour 2: Division 1 with Nigma Galaxy and Monaspa with a possibility of relegation to Division 2 with no extra DPC points earned. After failing to qualify for the Berlin Major 2023, Entity does not have many options to earn enough DPC points to qualify for a direct invite to TI 2023.

Stunted DPC points, Possible Division II Relegation, and Qualification for TI 2023

In the last match of the second week of the DPC WEU Tour 2: Division I game, Entity lost their series 2-0 against OG, which had dire consequences on its overall ability to compete professionally at the highest level and qualify for The International 2023.

The team has 240 DPC points, ranking 17th overall in the global DPC point standings. However, this is not very high when compared to others in the rankings, such as the Top 12 teams, including Team Liquid, Gamin Gladiators, Evil Geniuses (EG), Talon Esports, and others, all of which have secured over 350 DPC points and opportunities to earn more through the third DPC season and upcoming Majors.

Another point that should be taken into account is that the WEU region is considered to be the most competitive region in Dota 2, and even Division II has some extremely high-level competition with teams such as Team Secret, Alliance, Into The Breach, and Old G. Entity may continue to struggle even if they are relegated into Division II, which would force the team into playing through qualifiers to compete at TI 2023.

Current EU DPC standings

Going forward, Entity will need to make significant improvements to its gameplay to have a chance at qualifying for TI 2023. With their current position in the standings, the team would need to beat Nigma Galaxy and Monaspa to stay in Division I and perform well in the division to earn more DPC points and earn a spot at the Bali Major 2023. This would provide them with valuable DPC points to bolster their chances of earning a coveted invitation to TI 2023.
