Logan Sargeant could drive for Williams

Monday, August 15th

Williams team boss Jost Capito has hinted in an official interview with F1 that Logan Sargeant is being considered for a promotion to partner Alex Albon in 2023.

Capito suggested that the upcoming Formula 2 rounds at Spa-Francorchamps, Zandvoort and Monza will be pivotal in deciding whether or not the American will get the call-up.

2021 Formula E world champion Nyck De Vries is also being considered for the seat, having completed an FP1 outing for Mercedes earlier in the season, while Nicholas Latifi’s funding will keep him in the mix.

Oscar Piastri to replace Daniel Ricciardo at McLaren for 2023 season

Friday, August 5th

McLaren has communicated to Daniel Ricciardo that they intend to replace him with Oscar Piastri for the 2023 F1 season.

The news comes after Piastri corrected a press release from Alpine stating that he would drive for the team in place of Fernando Alonso next season.

Piastri’s manager, Mark Webber, has been in talks with McLaren for a couple of weeks and it now looks certain that the reigning F2 champion will be driving for the papaya team next season.

Daniel Ricciardo likely to stay on with McLaren in 2023

Wednesday, June 22nd

McLaren team boss Zak Brown has stated that it is highly likely that Daniel Ricciardo will remain with the team for the 2023 Formula 1 season.

The popular Aussie has struggled to adapt since making the switch from Renault ahead of the 2021 season, but performances have picked up in Baku and Montreal following a difficult start to the 2022 season.

IndyCar star Colton Herta has been routinely linked with the second McLaren seat for 2023, while Arrow McLaren driver Pato O’Ward has also been touted as a potential replacement for Ricciardo.

Brown believes that Herta will make it into F1 sooner or later, but the young American may have to wait for his chance with Ricciardo set to stick around for 2023.
