Five stars to watch in 2023

2022 saw a number of stars rise up from the ranks in the world of football, and the next 12 months look to be no different.

There are a number of exciting talents waiting in the wings, and we’ve selected five that could be due for breakout years in 2023.

Five Breakout Stars of 2023

From wonderkids to players ready to become superstars for their boyhood clubs, these five talents are certain to burst onto the scene and rip up the script in 2023.

Karim Adeyemi

Widely known to many Football Manager fans, Karim Adeyemi is an exciting young German forward who is more than ready to dominate for club and country.

Signed as somewhat of an Erling Haaland replacement following the Norwegian’s departure to Man City, we’re expecting a big year for Adeyemi at the yellow submarine.

Now settled in his new surroundings and ready to take on the world, Adeyemi will undoubtedly be one of the most talked about stars at the end of next year.

Flynn Downes

Our next pick is a differential one, but that doesn’t mean that Flynn Downes won’t become a certified Premier League star in 2023.

Joining West Ham from Swansea in the summer, Downes has started to show his quality at the London Stadium, getting many Hammers fans on his side.

Whilst he’s yet to nail down a starting spot, we’re expecting Downes to have a rapid progression in 2023; we’re even predicting a first England cap for the former Ipswich Town wonderkid.

Xavi Simons

From one midfield talent ready to burst onto the scene to one who is truly doing that already at PSV.

Xavi Simons made the bold move to step away from PSG in the summer and chase greener pastures, and he seems to have found a great home in the Eredivisie.

A top young talent who will no doubt have the eyes of the world on him in 2023, we’re expecting Xavi Simons to continue his fine form and make a big-money move in the summer.

Mykhailo Mudryk

This man’s story is truly inspiring, as is the entire tale of Shaktar Donetsk and their run in the Champions League.

Marred by the ongoing war in Ukraine, Mudryk and his teammates have shown a fighting spirit that is truly inspirational to all.

Mudryk has been the standout star, with the Ukrainian tipped for a big-money move to Premier League Arsenal in January.

Either way, this youngster is set to rock the world in 2023.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Now to a man whose name no one can spell, but one that they can’t keep out of their mouths.

Kvaratskhelia is the great hope of Napoli, with this supremely talented attacking force strutting his stuff against the best teams in the world.

Whilst we don’t think he’ll leave Naples in 2023, we think this Georgian star could be the very key to helping Napoli to the Serie A title.
