Genshin Impact 2.7 Delays: What’s next for the upcoming update?

Last week, we received official confirmation from Hoyoverse that the Genshin Impact 2.7 update would be indefinitely delayed, and since then little has been made clear about the game’s next steps.

The last communication from the official channels was that fans would need to stay tuned on the date of the new update, the content adjustment plan, and compensation for the lost time.

Now 4 days since these announcements, we have not received any more information from the Genshin Impact developers. The situation has left the door open for plenty of speculation and theories. Let’s address some of them and look ahead at what’s next for Genshin Impact 2.7.

Genshin Impact 2.7 Release Date

When is Genshin Impact 2.7 coming to the game after its recent delays? Rumors from people close to the organization suggest that Hoyoverse will need around two-three weeks.

Uncle Y, a respected leaker from China, recently suggested that the Genshin Impact 2.7 Livestream would take place on May 20, 2022, and the update will launch one week later.

While this is far from confirmed, it’s at least something for a potential rescheduled date for Genshin Impact 2.7 and its special program livestream.

Content Adjustment Plan

After the Genshin Impact 2.7 delay announcement, the theory of an interim banner started getting more traction.

Some players are expecting a banner with a 5-star character like Mona, similar to the one of Keqing.

The most optimistic players are expecting a rerun character like Xiao. However in Uncle Y’s Genshin Impact 2.7 release date leak, the post also suggested there would be no new banner for Genshin Impact 2.6, meaning we won’t get an interim banner before the next update.

This is also unconfirmed, so travelers should keep hopes up for some nice new content to fill the new gap in the Genshin Impact 2022 schedule.

Compensation

Hoyoverse mentioned that players are getting compensation for the delay, and there are many ways this could happen.

For now, we expect this compensation will be given to players via a log-in event similar to those during the Lantern Rite and Anniversary which offered 10 Intertwined Fates for free, which is equal to a free 4-star character or weapon.

Additionally, if the new update is late by three weeks, it means players will have the opportunity to collect 37 wishes considering the refresh of Paimon’s Bargain Shop, Spiral Abyss, and the Daily Commissions.

The most important thing is for the Genshin Impact team to be safe under the latest COVID quarantine in Shanghai, but players are still very excited to learn more about what’s next for the game and update 2.7 during the wait.
