LCK 2022 Regional Finals: A Road to Worlds 2022
The Summer Playoffs of the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) came to an end on 28th August with Gen.G taking home the trophy after it defeated T1 in a clean 3-0 series in the grand final. Of the six teams that participated in the Summer Playoffs, Gen.G and T1 have already punched their tickets to the League of Legends World Championship 2022 aka Worlds 2022 as the first and second seed from Korea. Now, there are two more spots up for grabs and four teams will fight for the third and fourth seed for Worlds 2022 via the LCK 2022 Regional Finals 2022. The LCK 2022 regional finals kicked off on 1st September and a total of three series will be played to determine the two teams. The last match will be held on 3rd September.

LCK 2022 Regional Finals: Format
As noted, the LCK 2022 Regional Finals will determine the third and fourth Korean teams to qualify for Worlds 2022. The format is as follows:

The top four teams in Championship Points (excluding the teams already qualified for Worlds 2022) participate

The event will feature a waterfall bracket with seeding based on Championship Points

The winner of the third and fourth seed match (Round 1) will lock in as the third seed for Worlds

The loser of the Round 1 match will play the winner of Round 2 (5th and 6th seed match) for the fourth slot for Worlds

All matches are best-of-five (BO5)
Simply put, Championship Points are awarded to teams at the end of the Spring and Summer splits according to their placements. Put together, the team with the highest points (apart from the winner of Summer Split who qualifies directly) becomes the second seed from the LCK.

Schedule for LCK Regional Finals
A total of three BO5 series will take place in this tournament in a waterfall bracket. The winner of the final will qualify for the Worlds 2022 main event whereas the runner-up will be seeded into the Play-ins.
