Modern Warfare 2 Weapon Tuning
Weapon tuning is a new feature in Modern Warfare 2 that allows you to alter the stats on equipped attachments. You’ll unlock this feature after leveling a weapon to max rank, at which point any attachments installed onto that weapon may be tuned.
Every attachment has two sliders that impact two stats apiece, when one goes up, the other goes down. For example, if an attachment has a slider that affects ADS speed and sprint to fire time, increasing your ADS speed would lower your sprint to fire time.
Tuning is a great tool to give you an extra edge over your opponents in Modern Warfare 2 if you’ve managed to grind through the weapon levels. You can expect around a 10% performance boost when used to capacity.
Weapon Tuning Bug
Unfortunately, a bug has appeared causing game crashes when players use tuned attachments with a fully loaded up gun. Tuning is disabled for now, but Infinity Ward is already working on a fix.
If you currently have a tuned attachment equipped in Modern Warfare 2, you’ll need to disable it for the loadout in question to work. Stay tuned for information about when the feature will return, but expect a quick fix.
