Mortal Shatters Retirement Speculations, Vows to Continue Playing in Unofficial BGMI Events

Naman “Mortal” Mathur recently shared his thoughts on his future in competitive gaming during a live stream. With the much-anticipated comeback of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), players, esports athletes, streamers, and content creators were eagerly awaiting its return. Mortal, who wears multiple hats as a former professional player, streamer, content creator, owner of Team SouL, and co-founder of S8UL Esports, revealed his perspective on participating in BGMI esports.

Having formed Team SouL alongside Mohammed “Owais” Lakhani, Harpreet “Ronak” Janjuha, and Yash “VipeR” Soni, Mortal has tasted success in various prestigious tournaments. Notable achievements include winning the PUBG Mobile India Series 2019 and the PUBG Mobile Club Open – Spring Split: India.

Mortal on Playing BGMI Esports

After BGMI’s relaunch on May 29th. Krafton organized a launch party with a substantial prize pool of INR 10,00,000, inviting 256 players from all over India. This event garnered immense excitement from fans, who were eager to witness their favorite streamers and athletes compete. Unfortunately, Mortal’s team did not advance past Round One, prompting him to reflect on his journey.

During his recent livestream , He openly admitted, “After playing for two days in BGMI Rising, I realized that I need to grind more. I wish I could participate in esports.” he also acknowledged that he could not play in the current Team SouL as they were well ahead of him. He does not want to disrupt them. He acknowledged that, due to his role as a team owner, it is a universal rule that he cannot actively compete in other lineups.

He further told his viewers that his comeback was impossible. “though I wish to play, sometimes I just cannot, and that is how it works.” This led to speculations among the fans about his esports retirement, but he quickly cleared them by saying “though I won’t be able to play in official events I will play unofficial events.”

Despite his journey in BGMI esports taking an unexpected turn, Mortal made it clear that he was not yet ready to retire. He remains actively involved in streaming and creating content on YouTube, where he has cultivated a substantial following, with over 6.95 million subscribers eagerly supporting his endeavors.
