NBA 2K23 Cover Athlete Prediction

Although we don’t know the official release date, we know that the first thing that will be announced is the NBA 2K23 cover athlete.

Last year, we found out via a reveal trailer that Luka Doncic would grace the Standard Edition cover.

Here are the NBA 2K23 cover athletes that we have in mind for the Standard Edition version of the game:

  • Nikola Jokic
  • Jayson Tatum
  • Joel Embiid
  • Stephen Curry (Longshot Prediction)

Now, let’s take a look at a few of the reasons why we selected these four as potential cover athletes.

  • Nikola Jokic
    • 2022 NBA Most Valuable Player
    • Averaged 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 7.9 assists per game
  • Jayson Tatum
    • Averaged 26.9 points per game through the regular season
    • Led the Boston Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals
    • Was vital in eliminating the Milwaukee Bucks
  • Joel Embiid
    • Averaged over 30 points per game during the regular season
    • Averaged a double-double over the season
    • Shot just under 50% during the season.
    • Was a candidate for MVP but lost to Nikola Jokic
  • Stephen Curry
    • Broke the NBA record for most threes in a year (507)
    • Broke Ray Allen’s record for most career threes
    • Became the first player ever with 3,000 three-pointers

So, will any of these NBA 2K23 cover athlete candidates be selected? Or is there someone else that could steal the spotlight?

Previous Covers of NBA 2K

As we mentioned above, Luka Doncic graced the NBA 2K22 cover. However, the NBA 2K23 cover athlete could be one from a previous cover.

For example, Stephen Curry was on the cover of NBA 2K16. We’ve also seen multiple combination covers, such as the 75th Edition of NBA 2K22. We’re hoping to see a few variant editions this year as well.

In preparation for the NBA 2K23 Cover Athlete, here are some of the former cover athletes from previous years.

  • NBA 2K16 – Stephen Curry – Standard Edition
  • NBA 2K17 – Paul George – Standard Edition
  • NBA 2K18 – Kyrie Irving – Standard Edition
  • NBA 2K19 – Giannis Antetokounmpo – Standard Edition
  • NBA 2K20 – Anthony Davis – Standard Edition
  • NBA 2K21 – Zion Williamson – Standard Edition
  • NBA 2K22 – Luka Doncic – Standard Edition

As we can see, of our NBA 2K23 cover athlete options above, only Curry has landed on a cover.

NBA 2K23 Potential Release Date

By using former release dates, we should be able to come up with when NBA 2K23 will officially be released.

With the release of NBA 2K22 on Friday, September 10, 2021, we believe NBA 2K23 will released on Friday, September 9, 2021. This is as long as there aren’t any delays with development.

As we mentioned, one of the first things we’ll learn is who the NBA 2K23 cover athlete will be. Hopefully, we’ll see a reveal trailer similar to last year as well.

In the meantime, enjoy Season 7 of NBA 2K22 and all the rewards available.
