Schofield’s departure: As it happened
The Terriers enjoyed a fairytale run to the Championship play-off final last season before suffering a narrow defeat to Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest.
The ensuing summer was harsh on Huddersfield, who saw popular manager Carlos Corberan walk out following two successful campaigns with the club.
Huddersfield was then raided by play-off final opponents Nottingham Forest, who prised away talented left-back Harry Toffolo and star midfielder Lewis O’Brien for modest fees.
Danny Schofield was the man elected to replace Corberan, but a scattergun approach to the summer transfer window, combined with the difficulty in replacing O’Brien’s midfield presence, left the Terriers in a precarious position.
A late defeat to newly-promoted Wigan on Tuesday night proved the end for Schofield, whose short tenure as Huddersfield Town manager has now come to an end.
