Lage’s Wolves departure: As it happened
Bruno Lage was appointed as Wolves boss in June 2021 following the departure of the popular manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who had joined Spurs for what would be a short-lived stay in London.
Lage guided the Midlands club to a tenth-place finish in his first campaign at Molineux, but a return of no wins from the club’s final seven league games gave cause for concern.
The Portuguese boss added Matheus Nunes, Sasa Kalajdzic and Gonçalo Guedes to his ranks in the summer, but one win from the opening seven league games of the 2022/23 Premier League season was deemed an underachievement by the board.
