Skyesports Championship 5.0 Live Stream Will Require Fee for Viewing

Skyesports is one of the biggest tournament organizers in India. It recently announced the fifth edition of Skyesports Championship. The event will have multiple esports titles like Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) and Counter Strike 2 (CS2). The event also boasts a massive prize pool of INR 2.1 Crores. 

The BGMI Grand Finals is a LAN event that is set to take place at Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bangalore from 3rd to 5th November. The BGMI event will have a prize pool of INR 1.25 Crores, 25 Lakhs for the Semi Finals and INR 1 Crore for the Grand Finals.

Skyesports Championship 5.0 event to charge platform fee for viewing live streams

The Skyesports Championship 5.0 event will be live streamed on Loco, a live streaming platform. The tournament will be broadcasted live on Loco in multiple languages including English, Hindi, and Tamil, ensuring that fans from every part of the country can immerse themselves in the action. 

It was recently announced that fans will have to pay to watch the Skyesports Championship 5.0 live streams. The model has been introduced to maintain sustainability. Since then fans have had mixed reactions to the announcement. The live streaming platform is set to charge a fee of INR 20 from people who want to watch the event live. Fans will be able to watch the live stream by purchasing the VIP membership on Loco which will be active for 72 hours. 


Yash Bhanushali, Founder, Orangutan shared his thoughts on the news on X and wrote, “Good move by Loco to charge 20 rs for sky finals. Hope this translates to teams, TO’s, platforms all getting a share as things stabilize. Good initiative.” 

Shiva Nandy, Founder and CEO, Skyesports added to Yash’s thoughts and wrote, “If this model works, that’s definitely the plan. Everyone will find the solution.”


This is the first time a Tournament Organizer (TO) has announced a fee for viewing live streams of their tournaments. Fans have divided opinions on the news. It will be interesting to see if this model affects the viewership of the LAN event.
